There has been a lot of news lately about the Coronavirus, and we wanted to pass on an information sheet from the school district about the disease (see below). Doctors and officials think people who live in Philadelphia who have not been to China will not likely get sick from the Coronavirus.
The virus spreads like the common cold or the flu, so we ask that you and your family keep up the normal precautions: (1) Wash your hands regularly. (2) Use a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and wash your hands afterwards. (3) Keep your hands away from your face. (4) Clean and disinfect regularly used surfaces. And if your child has a high fever, or a prolonged fever, or any other symptoms that worry you, please take them to see a doctor.
Our existing protocol to prevent the spread of illness requires that any children who have a fever be kept home until the fever is gone for more than 24 hours. This means if your child has a fever on Monday, and the fever stops on Monday, the soonest they can return to school is Wednesday. Your attention to this will help keep our school healthy and safe!
