Our vision for academics at HCA is to fuse Christian discipleship and creative thinking into every aspect of our curriculum and school culture. Our aim is to shape students from all walks of life into intelligent, conscientious individuals who are prepared and inspired to steward their gifts well for the glory of God and for the good of their community.
A Look Inside Our School
The Advantages of HCA Academics
Creativity to Solve Problems
Academics at HCA nurtures creative thinking at every grade level through a school-wide pro-learning environment. Open-ended questions, inventive problem solving, and innovation are not just welcomed but expected. This gives our students a competitive edge to thrive in today’s ever-evolving and increasingly complex society.
Inspiration to Do Their Best
Our innovative and compassionate teachers exceed typical school standards by combining challenging academics, diverse extracurricular activities, and a robust Christian worldview to inspire within your child a genuine zeal for learning, moral virtue, and self-discipline that will motivate them to always do their best in class and beyond.
Adaptation to Individual Needs
There are pitfalls to expecting every child to learn at the same rate or in the same way. One may need more help while another needs to be more challenged. That means academics can’t be one-size fits all. Because of our small class sizes, we are able to offer more one-on-one attention than other schools so that your child won’t be left behind if they struggle or kept behind if they excel.
Gumption to Achieve Goals
Every parent has aspirations for their child. Every child has goals and dreams of their own. Our approach to academics helps students achieve their lifelong goals by instilling in them the keys to success: prayer, discipline, and hard work. Our teachers strive to form in each student the skills, self-discipline, and character that will allow them to go far in their education and careers after they graduate HCA.
Integrity to Make Right Choices
We don’t separate academics from the Kingdom of God. The Christian values we model and instill in our students will enable your child to make better choices – to make the right choices– so that when trials and temptations come, whether in the classroom, in the workplace, or in their most important relationships, they will have a love for God and the wisdom of his Word to guide them and enable them to resist cutting corners or indulging in unloving behavior.
Confidence to Know They Matter
Academics is serious business, but that doesn’t mean it should feel like business. Rather than just being another name on an application or another face in a giant classroom, we make every effort to know each child personally and to let them get to know us. We know their strengths, their frustrations, what makes them laugh, what they like to eat, what stories they like to read, and more simply because we want to! Because each child matters and we think they should know that.
Our academic curriculum is designed for more than just knowledge acquisition and good scores on standardized tests. At every grade level, we are helping students develop their critical thinking abilities and grow in moral character.
All major subjects recommended by the Department of Education are included in our curriculum and are taught from a biblical, Christian worldview. We also incorporate other subjects not required by the government to enrich the academic program and equip students for faithful and fruitful Christian living in our ever-changing world. Our education program is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS).
We utilize The Letter People to engage our preschoolers in learning activities that cover things like letter recognition, pre-writing skills, phonics, math concepts and more. Our Bible curriculum is Bible Essentials, which incorporates each letter of the alphabet with Biblical stories and Bible verses. We also engage our children in a variety of daily physical and social activities such as indoor/outdoor free play, arts and crafts, table games, instructional circle time, and more.

The Learning Center Programs
Academic Enrichment Program:
Through our in-house Learning Center we have designed a program to expand and enrich the learning opportunities for academically gifted students from 3rd to 8th grade. Middle school students in the Enrichment Program have the opportunity to study a variety of advanced topics, stretch critical thinking skills, and learn to skillfully articulate themselves from a biblical worldview. Entrance into the program is by invitation only, which usually occurs at the end of second grade, after undergoing the qualification process.
Special Needs & Remedial Education:
Our in-house Learning Center provides our special needs and tutoring services. The staff is trained and experienced in the areas of educational support and special needs. They work closely with the classroom teacher to provide appropriate instructional accommodations and strategies for enhancing academic success. Students receiving these services get special one-on-one and small group instruction, while our staff works with parents and teachers to provide an educational plan that meets the individual needs of the student. The staff also makes every effort to cooperate with any educational tutoring services the student may be involved in outside of HCA to ensure continued positive reinforcement of each student’s learning goals.
Home School Connection Program
The Home School Connection is a hybrid educational program that establishes a partnership between home school parents and the school. Parents may choose from a variety of educational offerings and options that meet the needs of their child and their family. The Academy offers academic, spiritual and social support within the framework of a Christ-centered program to assist parents who have chosen the nurturing environment of their home as their child’s main classroom.
